Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District has received permission from the state government to mark a PU exam paper in Science and Commerce II. This is the first time that a scientific paper has been allowed to be reviewed in Dakshina Kannada. Usually, all major scientific papers are assessed in Bengaluru.
According to officials, the department has been tasked with correcting the IT paper, which is a common paper for science and commerce streams. So far, only articles on arts and commerce have been assessed in the coastal district.
Meanwhile, the officials added that till last year, a total of eight papers were assessed in Dakshina Kannada. This year four more papers including Hindi, Statistics, Computer Science and Sociology have been added to the list. The number of assessment centers has been increased to nine in the district, DDPU CD Jayanna said. He said the final order of the paper review as well as the start date of the review have not yet been released. The current PU II exam will end on May 18.
Sources added that there is a demand to have an exam assessment center in Puttur, for the convenience of assessors from neighboring districts, as well as Dakshina Kannada. “However, the request was not granted due to technical reasons. The assessment centers will likely remain in Mangaluru town itself,” a source added. Assessors from neighboring districts of Kodagu, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru are coming to Dakshina Kannada for evaluation.

The results of the I PU exam held in March will be announced on Saturday. According to officials, results are available after 9 a.m. at all PU college campuses and also at The result can be obtained by typing the I PU exam register number and the date of birth, exactly as in the admission ticket or the online hall ticket. A total of 35,590 candidates, including 17,301 female candidates, sat for the exam.
