Odsonne Edouard handed over post-Celtic assessment by Partick Vieira with Premier League verdict ‘time to adjust’

Partick Vieira has urged Crystal Palace fans to give Odsonne Edouard time to adjust to life in the English Premier League.

The Frenchman got off to a good start in the Premier League after leaving Celtic, scoring two goals against Tottenham in a late appearance.

Despite this, the 23-year-old was not started against Liverpool, and his appearance on the bench could not prevent a 3-0 loss alongside Jurgen Klopp.

Following his departure from the Scottish Premiership, Selhurst Park boss Vieira insists he will give his new recruit to adjust to the standard in the south.

With a clash against rivals Brighton, he called for the patience of Eagle fans ahead of the clash on Monday.

When asked if Edward was ready to start a game for Palace, having started seven games in Europe and the Scottish top flight before his exit, Vieira said: “Yes I think he has been in good shape. and that he is ready to start a match.

“It’s just a matter of moving to another country and moving to the Premier League, he needs time to adjust.

“We will take our time to make him feel comfortable at the club, the way we want to play, but he is physically and mentally ready to start the game.

“I am happy and happy with him. He came in, scored those two goals and came in against Liverpool and created a few situations.

“He is a player who needs to adapt to the Premier League and to the club but he works well.

“I think he gives me one more option up front on who to choose for the game.”
