Rifa’s body exhumed; transferred to medical school for further examination
Kozhikode: The investigative team that unraveled the mystery of the death of Rifa Mehnu, a Malayali vlogger in Dubai, exhumed the body on Saturday. One learns that the body is in good shape without any deterioration.
Rifa Mehnu, 21, a Malayalee YouTuber and vlogger, was found dead in her Dubai apartment on March 1. Dubai investigators were unable to determine the reason for Rifa’s alleged suicide. The body, which was brought from Dubai, was buried here. Rifa’s family had alleged that her husband and family members deceived them by claiming the autopsy was carried out in Dubai. They also mentioned the same to the Kerala Police. The investigation team sought approval from the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) to exhume the body.
A team of forensic experts and police officers reached the Pavandoor Juma Masjid cemetery, where the deceased was laid to rest. The exhumation progressed under the supervision of the tehsildar, while the sub-collector was also present. Investigation procedures have been completed. Reports indicate that the body is in good shape as the embalming prevented further deterioration. The officials had made special arrangements to carry out the autopsy on the premises. However, since the body was found in proper form, officials decided to conduct the autopsy at Kozhikode Medical College. We learn that the body will be buried today, once the intervention is over.
Rifa’s family are keeping their fingers crossed that the mystery will come to light once the autopsy is complete.
Meanwhile, the police had arrested Rifa’s husband, Mehnaz, from Kasaragod, the other day. He was charged under the relevant articles with physical and mental torture and incitement to suicide. According to Rifa’s family, she had no reason to commit suicide. Hours before Rifa was found dead, she had a video chat with her parents and her two-year-old son at her workplace. It was not until the next day that the family learned of his death.
