Or: 99-105 Friar Street, Reading RG1 1EP

Tripadvisor rating: 3/5

Although it just has a mediocre rating rather than a bad one, The Hope Tap is ranked among the worst Wetherspoons pubs in Berkshire.

Of its 226 reviews, 41 of them are rated as “Terrible”, but most fall into the “Average” category with 57 of them.

One reviewer was unimpressed with the place, writing: “I’ve been to a few Wetherspoons in my day, but this one is particularly tidy. I imagine even the dregs of society avoid this dive most time. Soap in the toilet at least.”

Tripadvisor rating: 3.5/5

Although The Hope Tap is Berkshire’s lowest rated spoon, Windlesora is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum of spoons that have achieved a 3.5/5 in the county.

More recent reviews haven’t been rave reviews, with one saying the place “needs an overhaul”.

One reviewer wrote: “Drinks on special were not in stock (manager error again) food was cold and arrived at the table undercooked and overcooked what a mess not the only customer complaining. Please everyone just go to the King & Castle.”
